Application for the Class of 2010 Class Profile
Each year the class comprises a diverse group of approximately 40 senior-level executives from large and small businesses, economic development agencies, elected and appointed local and state government positions, the professions, education and non-profit organizations across Virginia.
Participants may also be volunteers or retirees. Their commonality is a willingness to contribute their time and talents effectively in meeting the rapidly changing needs and challenges facing Virginia. LEAD VIRGINIA aims to cultivate their interest and statewide knowledge and to build a strong network of people with a high level of civic concern and participation.
Class of 2005
LEAD VIRGINIA’s Inaugural Class of 2005 had 39 geographically, professionally and personally diverse participants, as evidenced by the Class of 2005 Geographic and Occupational Grid, Personal and Professional Information Summary, and Biographies.
Class of 2006
LEAD VIRGINIA continues to strive toward inclusiveness with 42 participants in the Class of 2006. The Class of 2006 Geographic and Occupational Grid, Personal and Professional Information Summary and Biographies illustrate LEAD VIRGINIA’s progress in meeting this goal.
Class of 2007

Candidates may self-nominate or be nominated by another leader. Nominations may be submitted in two ways:

Selection Criteria
Successful candidates are leaders with significant achievements in career and/or community service who have a sincere concern about the future of Virginia and a personal commitment to help shape that future. Each class reflects a cross-section of the state, including diversity of geographic location, profession, ethnicity, gender and age.
Participants are selected by a committee of the Board of Directors. The announcement of participants selected for the Class of 2010 will be made on February 15, 2010.
Tuition
Selected participants are billed for the tuition of $6,000, which covers all program expenses including meals, overnight accommodations, and program materials. Limited financial aid – for non-profit, government, and small business leaders – is available. Scholarship requests are reviewed after the admissions process has been completed and are not a factor in the consideration of an applicant’s merit. Awards are based on statement of need, the number of requests received, and the amount of funds available. The tuition payment is due (or an approved alternative payment plan must be in place) on March 15, 2010.
