Calling all Alumni

Mark your calendars for an insightful journey into the heart and mind of Abraham Lincoln, exploring Lincoln in the context of the challenging times during which he served as President of the U.S. LEAD VIRGINIA alumni are invited to attend a VIP Reception and Program as guests of the University of Richmond on Tuesday, October 7 at 6 p.m. for the reception, 7 p.m. for the program at the University of Richmond's Modlin Center for the Arts. Watch your mail for your invitation from the University of Richmond Jepson School of Leadership Studies; current class members are invited as well. We hope that LEAD VIRGINIA alumni from across the Commonwealth will be able to attend and look forward to seeing you there!

Speaker is Dr. Edward L. Ayers, President of The University of Richmond and historian of the American South. Dr. Ayers has written or edited 10 books. His book,
The Promise of the New South: Life After Reconstruction was a finalist for both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. Dr. Ayers is considered a pioneer in digital history. He served as Dean of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia prior to his position at U of R.


The Center for Rural Virginia invites you to their 2008 Rural Summit in Lynchburg, September 22-23. Agenda topics will include Healthcare (rural needs and rural policy); Infrastructure (broadband/land use planning); and Education and Workforce. For registration information, go to

Searching for the Class of 2009
LEAD VIRGINIA is actively recruiting for candidates for the Class of 2009. The deadline for applications is January 15, 2009. We need your assistance in securing proven leaders as candidates from every region of Virginia. Please contact Amanda Keller if you have a prospective candidate you would like us to reach out to.
