Alumni to Welcome New Class in Williamsburg April 17th |
LEAD VIRGINIA Alumni are volunteering to serve as hosts to welcome the Class of 2008 at their opening luncheon on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the
Williamsburg Lodge in Colonial Williamsburg. Keynote Speaker will
be Chris Gates, former head of the National Civic League and now Executive Director, Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement in Denver, Colorado. Following the luncheon, alumni will gather for an alumni meeting at the Williamsburg Lodge.
We invite all LEAD VIRGINIA alumni to join the new Class of 2008, Board of Directors and staff for great camaraderie and an intellectually stimulating and inspiring conversation on civic engagement, all amid the beautiful surroundings of Colonial Williamsburg. LEAD VIRGINIA Alumni Conference June 5-7 in Roanoke/Blacksburg |
LEAD VIRGINIA's first-ever Alumni Conference will be held June 5-7 and will spotlight the emerging entrepreneurial economy and collaborative initiatives of the Roanoke/Blacksburg region. You won't want to miss this enriching opportunity to re-connect with your own class colleagues, meet alumni from other classes and network with regional leaders in the Roanoke and Blacksburg region.
The Alumni Conference will be organized around a similar schedule as regional class sessions with alumni and guests gathering at the Hotel Roanoke on Thursday evening, June 5th for a networking reception, dinner and guest speaker. The weekend session agenda will feature a visit to Virginia Tech's Corporate Research Center hearing directly from some of the leading edge technology businesses located there and a highlight of collaborative initiatives in the region, with the program concluding by Saturday noon. Registration details will be forthcoming via email.

Beth Bortz '07 Medical Society of Virginia,will work with the Alumni Committee as Richmond Regional Alumni Representative to the Alumni Committee. The role of Regional Alumni Representatives is to plan events twice a year for alumni to re-engage within their respective regions. Beth is also profiled in the March 2008 issue of Skirt Magazine, a new Richmond publication about and for women.

Richmond and Hampton Roads LEAD VIRGINIA alumni are invited to the Strawberry Hill Races at Colonial Downs in New Kent County on Saturday, April 12 for an afternoon of horse racing and people watching from a skybox vantage point. Races are from Noon to 4 p.m. and ticket price of $75 per person will include shuttle from Richmond, parking pass, beer, wine and food catered by Sharper Palate.
