Class of 2008 Opening Session

LEAD VIRGINIA Alumni are invited to join the Class of 2008 at their opening luncheon on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Williamsburg Lodge in beautiful Colonial Williamsburg. Keynote Speaker is Chris Gates, President of Philanthropy for Civic Engagement in Denver, Colorado. Alumni table hosts have graciously volunteered to welcome the new class members. Following the luncheon, alumni will gather for a meeting at the Williamsburg Lodge. Don't forget there is golf nearby, wonderful shopping and a fabulous spa across the street if you want to take advantage of a beautiful spring weekend.

Goals of the Alumni Committee

1. Support LEAD VIRGINIA as it matures into a well-established and better known organization.
2. Maintain alumni relationships and foster new connections between annual classes.
      3. Continue to explore the concept of social capital and how it can positively impact economic growth across Virginia.

LEAD VIRGINIA Class of 2008 Recruiting Nets Results

CALLING ALL LEAD VIRGINIA ALUMNI
LEAD VIRGINIA alumni have been asking, and now you can mark your calendars - for the first Alumni Conference to be held in the Roanoke/Blacksburg region June 5-7, 2008. Why Roanoke/Blacksburg? We're glad you asked! This region is an important economic and education center that is not part of the regular LEAD VIRGINIA class curriculum and the Alumni Committee wants to introduce you to this important contributor to Virginia's prosperity.

The Alumni Conference will be modeled on regional visits made by regular classes (Thursday evening through Saturday noon), and the planning committee will work to keep costs as low as possible. Conference themes will be Economy, Education and Health, with some additional relevant themes introduced on timely topics. We will be looking for sponsors to help underwrite expenses. If your organization would like to help sponsor this first Alumni Conference, please contact Bernie Niemeier, '07, Chairman of the Alumni Committee, at bniemeier@vabusiness.com or Susan Horne, '06, LEAD VIRGINIA President & CEO at shorne@leadva.org.
